Kazuhiro Hori was born in Shinjo, Japan, where he now lives and works. His hyper-realistic oil paintings show Japanese junior high and high school girls in their traditional school uniform "Seifuku" in surreal scenarios, often surrounded by oversized cuddly toys, toys and sweets. The cuddly toys and sweets are given a certain liveliness and autonomy. The playfulness and joy of the colours and scenic design stands in direct contrast to the disconcerting events taking place in the picture space.
